Description
1928 HARLEY DAVIDSON Model JD.
Here is a great 1928 Harley Davidson JD, this motorcycle was restored some time in the early 90's. It looks great and presents well. The 1928 was the first year that Harley Davidson offered a front brake.
It has been on display for the last 25 years, I recently acquired and put back in service.
Here is what I know off this motorcycle and will try to represent to the best of my knowledge.
Paint: Clean older restoration, it does have some cracking of the paint and a few light scratches. There is no rust or rot. you can see on the primary cover that is discolored form gas leaking from the petcocks (common problem).
Gas Tanks: Tanks hold fluids, they have been coated on the inside, The tank bungs to weep slightly (common problem) but by the time this listing ends I will probably have that fixed by lapping them.
Parts: In my opinion this bike is pretty original for a 1928, there is a few reproduction parts and a few nuts and bolts that are not 1928 correct but not many.
Mechanical: it looks like this has been mechanically restored not long ago, appears only to have a few test miles. it has great compression, runs smooth, and shifts well. I recently cleaned the carberaruter and added fluids. Charged the battery and it started within 2 kicks! I have only put about 10-15 miles on this.
The only thing that I would change on this JD would be to get new tires, the tires were probably new but because of age they have some slights weather cracking, they still hold air and work, but I don't now if I would trust for long trips.
This motorcycle does qualify for the next Motorcycle Cannonball coast to coast endurance run, with a little bit of work this would be a perfect candidate.
Payment: $500.00 Deposit due within 48 Hours, remaing payment can be made via, Bank Wire, Cash, Cashiers Check, Cleared Personal Check, PayPal. We can work out the details.
Shipping: I have lots of Experience with Shipping of Motorcycles, I can get deals within the Conus US and will help buyer with transportation. I also have experience in International shipping. The bike is located in Springville, Utah. I travel between here and Sturgis, SD and Phoenix, AZ regularly. If you need assistance please let me know.
