Description
Here is a late 1929 Harley DL that has been sitting in my neighbors shed for over 70 years. She has quite a story to her but I won't tell it here. In any event I bought her 2 years ago (see the 2nd last photo) and restored her with the promise that she would go back to the shed when she was done, with the seller having the first opportunity to purchase (at cost of restoration). It doesn't look like the old girl is going home.
Clean title/registration in my name. Complete top to bottom rebuild. Does have the original DLX 67 Schebler carb. I even managed to save the original rims, spokes and hubs. Front end was rebuilt, with new springs, front legs, rods, etc. 50 over pistons, rebuild bottom end, etc. This isn't 100 percent original. The olive green is Harley but not the original 1929 color. If you don't like it, repaint it... All new fender rivets as you can tell (brass) etc. I took some artistic liberties so please no hate mail on "wrong color" "wrong rivets" "that's a repop dash" "why did you nickel plate the springs" etc... and yes that's a 1932 jiffy stand not correct for 29... oh and it does come with the crash bars (powder coated gloss black) that you see on her in the original condition photo.
Here is a video of her idling... had the throttle open a bit much... can make more videos no problem. also the photos' don't show the oiler cover and air cleaner ... they are included... I still need to wire in the taillight and ammeter lamp, and fit the oiler cover (it is nickel plated)
She'll need some fine tuning, tightening, greasing (all alemite fittings), sorting and fluids to be road ready. She does start easy, one or two kicks... Not perfect but a hell of a start on a bike that now goes for over 40 grand...
Also... for the afficionados out there yes the frame and front end etc. are 1930 per casting numbers... the late dl motors (as is this one) went into the one year only new 1930 chassis... If you're a total nut about this either don't buy, or I'll provide a set of superb 1930 dl cases (no cracks repairs etc.)...
If I receive payment from the original owner she goes back to farm shed to sit for hopefully another 70 years... currently I'm working on a patina 29 dl for myself... missing a few things... (original solar lamps... if you have a set I'd pay a kings ransom).
