Seller notes: “Roller Project”
Description
1930 Harley Davidson DL. A largely complete roller project. 80+ %. The first of the 45 cu in twins. I've tried to show what I have in the pictures. If its not pictured, I don't have it and its not included in the sale. Minimal corrosion overall though its 90+ years old. Original handlebars. Frame is good. Front end is good. Foot rest assembly is good. The engine is complete but disassembled. No cracks or broken off chunks except for case webbing as shown in pictures. Crank is standard. Shafts and bushings show normal wear, no scoring or galling. There is a set of NOS bearings and cages for the crank, along with a new crank pin. Connecting rods are good although the wrist pin ends show what to me is excessive wear. Some corrosion on lower cases. Cylinders have clean new 80 over bore and new 80 over pistons, rings, and wrist pins. No broken fins or cracks. Generator turns and looks to be complete except for pinion gear. Tanks are straight and clean. Seat and mounting are good with new leather. Linkert carb and manifold. Transmission turns over and shifts. So there it is. Very good start but a ways to go. If you are familiar with restoring 90+ year old Harley Davidson motorcycles, you know how difficult and expensive it is to find serviceable parts, particularly the smaller bits and pieces. As the pictures show, this bike has a lot of them, though certainly not all. That's about really about all I know. No idea of the history of the bike. Bought it at Chief Blackhawk Meet 3 years ago from a stranger. I bought it with the intent to restore, but age and other priorities say that is not going to happen. So its time to turn it over to someone else. Not interested in parting it out, even though the parts value is considerable. So please don't ask. Pickup in Eagle River, Wisconsin. I'm not setup to pack and box the parts to the extent some shippers may require. Loose in a few cardboard boxes I can handle, no more. There is No Title. I have a notarized bill of sale from Illinois and I will provide one from Wisconsin. There were no titles issued for these era bikes, so obtaining a title should be possible. Buyer will have to sort that out. Payment is cash before pickup unless we agree to something else in advance of pickup. No checks.
