Description
Hi and welcome to the sale of my 1958 Norton Model 50.
A one owner bike previous to me.
Registered new on the 22 December 1958
Full V5 logbook with me in my name.
The bike benefits from being Tax and MOT exempt as I'm sure most of you already know, however it's a question I've been asked more than once.
The bike was bought about 3 years ago from the family of the original owner. It was in a fairly sorry old state after being left standing since the early 70s it is believed.
I decided to build something that would be in my opinion a fantastic looking bike that gives a cheeky little nod of the head to those bikes of the time that once flew round the the tracks in the 1950s and 60s, arguably none more famous than the notorious Isle Of Mann, which is what I had in mind while building this.
The bike started out as a pretty standard Wideline featherbed framed Model 50, obviously with the roadholder forks. However as the original steel rims/spokes were rotten as were the oil tank and mudguards and as I already had a petrol tank and some ally rims this is what prompted me to use this one as the basis for the "Road Race Replica" rather than trying to restore it back to "original".
Frame, swing arm, yokes etc were shot blasted, dirt removed, cleaned, primed and sprayed in gloss black 2k paint.
The Road holders have been stripped and re sealed with new chrome seal covers
Brand spanking new correct Amal carb and matching all important "Bell mouth" all jetted to suit the engine as standard.
All new cables it goes without saying, including speedo cable to fit its Smiths Chronometric.
2 brand new Avon Roadriders and inner tubes which have yet to see action on the tarmac.
2 brand new flanged aluminium rims with stainless steel spokes lacing in the original hubs.
New wheel bearings
New brake shoes.
New primary and final drive chains fitted
New clutch plates fitted and new corks in the basket.
New aluminium Tomaselli style levers
New steering bearings
Brand new manx style single seat.
The fuel tank has been lined and sealed using the best sealing agent on sale (Flo Liner).
New manx style fairing.
New battery, coil and wiring.
New throttle, clip ons and handlebar rubbers.
All primer and paint has been done in 2k (two pack).
The bike does start, run and ride and has then sat in the house as a living room feature.
The beauty about this is also that you could, if you choose to, is put a Triumph engine and gearbox in with the correct engine plates to turn it into a Triton with very little effort as all the hard work has been done, if you had a good engine and box ready to go you could transform this over half a weekend
There is no lights on the bike other than the ignition light, however I do have a pair of John Tickle style headlight brackets and a headlight somewhere I will let go with the bike for if the owner ever decides to go down that route
Viewing of the bike is highly encouraged and welcomed so you can be absolutely satisfied that you are absolutely certain of what you're investing in.Videos of the bike running can be sent upon request for those who are too far away to travel.
Cash on collection preferred or Bank transfer.
You are welcome to arrange your own courier but all funds must be cleared before the bike leaves the property, I do have a couple of motorcycle couriers I could recommend if needs be.
For any further information please do not hesitate to ask.
