Description
1960 Norton 99, 600cc Dominator Here is a beautifully presented example of the handsome wide-line featherbed Norton Dominator 600cc twin. Excellent starter (on Boyer electronic ignition) and lovely runner. Rides well, goes very well indeed for a 600cc, feels more like a 650 to me. Very smooth power delivery and excellent brakes. Speedometer working well. Charging system on 12 Volt set up with modern solid state regulator/rectifier. Engine sounds good with no smoke and no unusual mechanical noises. Steering and handling all spot on, gears and clutch all A1. This really is a fabulous bike to ride. It comes with V5C doc, registration number is the original transferable XTP119 dating from 19th May 1961. The frame number R4 90983 indicates the bike was a late 1960 wide-line ES2 originally, not registered til 1961. Engine number is 84049 14P which is a 1959 Dominator 99. The engine and frame numbers match the V5c. The bike is registered for Historic Class (free) road tax and is MOT exempt. Cosmetically the bike is in superb used but very clean and tidy condition. The enamel on the frame is beautiful. The paintwork on tin-ware and tank is all excellent. Only very light signs of use and re-ageing here and there. This is about as good as it gets for a restored bike that has actually been used! Tank has excellent chrome panels as well as silver paintwork. It is clean inside and has not been linered with “pet-seal” or the likes. Wheel rims front and rear are both excellent Dunlops, front spokes are stainless, rear are original “rustless” type. Front tyre is hardly used but quite old looking Avon Roadrunner, rear Super Venom is also unworn but looks very old with some light perishing in sidewalls. There is no fin damage on the engine and it's oil tight. Exhaust down pipes are excellent – perfect, silencers are very good but there's a small marked patch in chrome on the left side. Seat is excellent. Excellent centre stand and rare sidestand fitted in good order. All in all this is a beautiful, sweet running handsome Dommie, on the road and ready to enjoy.
