Description
This is a Rare Norton 1952 Big4 600cc SV engine fitted in a 1955 Norton 19s frame, was apparently built for trials. The big4 was used in military outfits due to its torque , reliability and ease of maintenence being a side valve, It was also popular in civvy Street for sidecar use.since owning the bike I have rebuilt the front forks ( long roadholders } including : new stanchions, new seals new springs, new bushes , s/h sliders , new oil defusers , so as new... new front wheel bearings, new handles bars 830mm.footrest have been moved back aka trials position and made bigger for better purchase , new Sammy miller trials front mudguard stay , I have fitted a remote linkage so the gears can be selected ( only first needed when doing trials). I have also changed the gearbox out put sprocket to a 22th which allows a cruise speed of 45/50 mph instead of 35mph as it was in trials gearing. there is only magneto power for the ignition but I have fitted a small battery to supply power to the brake light, (please note there is only a brake light no front or rear tail light ) the battery that powers the brake light needs charging independantly of the bike, but should last ages I've not charged it since fitting. Due to the age the bike it is MOT and Tax excempt, it has a V5 with an age related registration, obviously the numbers do not match, the engine has been fitted into a Norton 19S to be acceptable for twin shock trials, I have also fitted new Michelin tracker enduro tyres for use on road and green lane. Runs nice , a real plod along thumper !! selling to fund another projectoffers invitedpayment on collection is ok , wont be released until funds clear , possible delivery ...
