Description
1972 Norton 750cc Commando Combat (roadster).
Steel tank and side covers, Matching numbers, Standard bore, Standard crank journals, SS camshaft, Combat head.
This is a old unrestored bike that had been pulled apart MANY years ago. It was put back together (by the previous owner - not me), then I purchased it and it has sat in my shed for a LONG time since. I originally bought the bike because it looked like it had the potential to be a good one to restore (but never got around to it), so time to move it on.
The engine kicks over and has good compression - and I've had it running, Gearbox selects all 4 gears, All the electrics work (indicators, horn, headlight, tail light, hi / low beams, instrument lights, ignition system, etc.), speedo and tacho work, and the clutch seems good.
I have recently started it and ridden it up and down my driveway (1st gear only).
There are a few parts missing - (main stand and spring, original indicators, front fender centre stay, mirrors, and maybe a few small bits that I am not aware).
The seat, outer primary cover and tail light are from the early Commando's - Was told by the previous owner these were changed because they looked better, - otherwise the bike looks mostly original.
Also comes with a box of spare parts - swinging arm, chain guard, assortment of small bits and pieces.
PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT a ride away bike or ready for the road, as the tyres are old and hard, the brakes are old, and the whole bike will need a good going through before it's roadworthy. Also it's being sold in 'as is, as I bought condition', scratches and dents, rusty bits, old seals, old paint, mechanical internals, and bits that might not be correct, etc. (but having said this, with some time and effort it does have the potential to be a good well used unrestored rider).
Hope all this info helps as I have tried to describe as best as possible.
