Description
1947 Chief restored in early 1990's by prior owner in Moclips, WA. Last operated in mid-90's. Linkert M352 carburetor. 6 volt. Good compression. Comes with custom "prison art" airbrushed in unknown Washington penitentiary. Non-matching numbers (FRAME: 3472304 / ENGINE CDG2198B) are both 1947.
Gas tank lining on left tank is bubbling slightly. Tank has internal threading for Indian script emblem screws. See pic. Right half tank has peeling coating that needs work. Left tank has dent with flaking Indian Headdress decal.
Rust coming through chrome on front wheel rim, linkages, headlight nacelle, handlebars and levers. Tail pipe chrome looks good.
Paint on front fender skirt had full depth chip on the left rear surface. Rear fender valence looks straight and even.
Speedo cable is intact but zip tied under saddle. Speedo is missing and hole is covered by aluminum ashtray. Black face ammeter is pointing at 12'noon (vertical) and not year correct for ‘47. Repop Buddy saddle in very good condition. Repop auxiliary driving lamps (lenses cracked) and mounting bar comes with bike in box with untested coil. See last photo of airbrushed art done within the confines of a WA penitentiary art class. Unknown is Bob Tolbert Jr. was the imprisoned artist or the owner of the bike that commissioned the work in 2/1995.
I purchased the bike in 2014 and never got around to reworking the gas tanks and installing a new battery to kick it over and ride it.
Sitting in my garage for the past 10 years looking lonely and forlorn.
CLEAN Washington Dept of Licensing title in hand. I am the legal owner.
