1950 BSA C10, 250cc side-valve, excellent runner with V5C.

Here is an interesting and fun BSA 250cc side-valve C10 in excellent running order and really very nice cosmetic condition.
This little tele-rigid bike is ideal for anyone that wants an old British bike but would prefer something nice and light and easy to handle. It is like a miniature version of the M20 or M21. It has coil ignition so starting is super, super easy. It runs beautifully, ticks over nicely and sounds quiet mechanically with no smoke and no rattles. It has been fitted with an anti-wet sumping tap which is a great help so long as you do something to remind you to switch the tap on. (I always tie something around the kick-starter if I switch the tap off).

The bike is lovely to ride not fast but steadily up to 45mph and cruises at the ideal speed for touring the back lanes. It is very pleasant just chugging along with good 3 speed box and good clutch.
Brakes are adequate front and rear.
Lights are all working well and charging system is working properly. Smith's 80mph speedometer mounted in the petrol tank is working well.

This is a very enjoyable little bike to potter around on, it's not for the dual carriageways or long distance work but is just great fun for shorter more interesting journeys.
The bike comes with V5C registration document, registration is XXS744, date of registration is 25th March 1950. Frame number is ZC10-14691, engine number is ZC10-4855.
The bike is registered for Historic Class (free) road tax and is MOT exempt.

Cosmetically the bike is really quite tidy. Excellent stove enamel on the frame, only minor marks. Excellent enamel on guards also only very minor marks & signs of use. Tank finish is very nice also. It has been linered with a modern sealant and looks very good inside. Both rims have beautiful, as new chrome with stainless spokes & nipples. Both tyres are hardly used Mitas which are a popular modern ‘old school' tyre ideal for these kind of bikes. There is one chipped fin on the top of cylinder head next to the spark plug. This is not noticeable unless you really go looking for it! Exhaust pipe & silencer are both very good, especially the silencer. Nice single saddle and “bum-pad” fitted. All in all this is a lovely characterful example of post-war British motorcycling. A charming way of getting from A to B in a simpler world. Also it happens to be the easiest to start bike I've come across. Easier than a Honda 50! A baby could kick this one up! Don't miss this fun BSA a rare survivor from the good old days.
