1966 BSA A65

This is an extremely rare 1966 BSA professional flat tracker built by the legendary and AMA Hall of Fame inductee, Erwin Smith.
This tracker has an original and very early “Smitty Conversion”, transforming a stock A65 to a 750cc pro-powerhouse. (The details are impressive and well worth checking AI, “Erwin Smith, Smitty Conversion”.) The bike also has the original “1st Generation” Small Backbone Trackmaster prototype frame and matching prototype swing-arm.
This is also the bike that Mickey Greene campaigned to dominate Midwest tracks in the 1970's, including the Davenport Half Mile, Sedalia Mile, and Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds.
The bike was originally built and owned by Bill Milburn, traded to Mickey Green in the early 1970's for a Harley XR 750 tracker. Smitty took the bike to the next level and as I understand he also had ownership of the bike. The bike was then acquired by the legendary Jim “Dirt Track” Norris as part of his private collection.
I have the title to the bike, provenance, and some photos (including those listed here).
The bike is as it was acquired from the Dirt Track Norris collection. It does turn over with strong compression; I've never tried to start it.
