Description
Selling due to ill health.
I bought the bike this summer. knowing it was only going to be short term. but I'd never ridden an old girder fork bike so it was a nice experience. It's pretty much how I bought it although I did have to have the tank stripped out and sealed due to unleaded fuel flaking off what was already in there. Also new ethanol proof fuel taps. I also took the head and barrel off just to give them a check (always have done with old bikes). The barrel has been re-sleeved to standard with a new British made piston. Unfortunately the rings where so tight in the grooves they were doing nothing. Also the piston was very tight in the small end bush. I had the grooves machined out with new rings and ground the bush. so all ok now. Bottom end not stripped as all smooth with no play. The previous owner has certainly spent money making it look a beautiful bike with a lot of new cycle parts. I've bought a few other bits including a 13amp battery to replace the excuse off a battery that was in it. Also clutch plane plates and springs. footrest through bolt that had been stripped. Now for the down side! I have only been able to start it on the bump so suspect it may be the mag not making a good enough spark low down. That said it ran perfectly from tickover all the way through the range. so not sure.
The frame VIN number is 23843 / engine 22202. so both post war department. I do not have the original buff log book.
I have a few short clips of me on it up and down the road. so at least you can see and hear it running! Been as honest as possible with the description. Come on guys. treat yourself to a present you've always wanted for Christmas! Thanks for your interest.
