1947 Norton Model 18 500cc OHV Single. Running Project. Classic Barn Find

1947 Model 18 Norton, which is a 500cc overhead valve single.
Current V5C is present and it is registered as historic, so no tax or MOT required. It is on an age related none transferrable reg. Engine and frame numbers are matching.
The bike starts and runs OK with no undue engine noises and good oil return. It is very oily rag in terms of cosmetics. The paintwork all looks like its been done at home with brush painted guards and aerosol on the tank. The rims are also painted. The things I have noticed is some blow back through the carb, so I suspect that the timing is a tad out and it does leak oil from the oil pipes, so it will need new connections I think. Apart from that it looks like an authentic machine that needs tidying up or you could ride as is. The speedo is a Smiths chrono. I like the Brooklands can. The seat is a nice old one, The lights are working etc, so the bike has some nice features and has not really been restored... more just kept going on the usual shoe string budget. I am selling it on a ride or restore basis. It is no oil painting, but its all there, it is registered, it does run, its matching numbers, and nothing is hidden. This is also the right sort of period machine being rigid with teles and these do look ace running around. It will make a brill restoration project or ideal oily rag machine to scare the neighbours on. Your choice.
