1948 Norton 16h Sidevalve

In regular use my rigid framed Norton 16h has never been fully restored but has been regularly mainained and improved since I aquired it in 1992 with parts being replaced and repainted when and if required. It runs very well and as a retired engineer I have made sure all the important bits are correct, so it has hard chromed fork stanchions and skimmed brake drums, rebuilt magdyno etc. It has a lovely taut feel and handles beautifully and despite the rigid frame long journeys are ok with the sprung saddle. I have undertaken journeys of over 120 miles in a day on it with no problems whatsover. I have fiited a larger engine sprocket (22T) to enable more relaxed cruising on A roads.It is never going to win any concours prizes but has a lovely aged patina that attracts attention wherever it is parked. The bike was originally registered in Oxford and seems to have spent its whole life in the oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire area until I bought it from a gentleman in Chippenham in 1992. Personally I think it would be a shame to polish, paint and chrome everything and it would be best left as an original bike in good used condition.The frame and engine numbers match and there is a variety of original documents including the original buff log book several tax discs and MoT certificates.I am located between Monmouth and Chepstow.
