Description
The 250 Sprint is most probably one of the rarest bikes to ever leave the Ducati Factory would make a fantastic addition for any serious motorcycle collector BELIEVED TO BY THE ONLY 250 SPRINT IN THE UK if you know any different please let me know - I have been riding bikes since1960 and have not come across another one like this.
Specification: 249 cc SOHC single – wide case, Five gears right hand change, Year: 1971, Engine: DM 250 M3 110249, Frame: 250. S. 254475DGM. 7035. O. M Ducati 250 Widecase Race / Parade bike.
This little bike is a real gem. The bike has not been used in anger (racing) for some years but has been started regularly and would make an ideal Hill Climb / Parade / Show bike as is. Originally from a motorcycle collection in Italy and was built to a very high spec -here is a brief list:
Cerriani forks and rear shocks - Grimeca front and rear brakes
Tomaselli levers and controls - Borriani alloy rims
Twin plug cylinder head - Dry clutch - Veglia racing rev counter
This is a fine example of the 250 Sprint ‘bare-bones. wide-case 250 which was built for sprint racing and hill climbs. Hill climbing was a very popular form of motorcycle racing in the rolling Tuscan Hills during the 1960s and 1970s. The Ducati singles were a popular choice amongst enthusiasts. as they were both competitive and regularly successful. The SOHC engine is fitted with a significantly larger Del'Orto PHF32AS carburetor and twin spark plugs. To save weight. the seat and tailpiece are fibreglass. as is the fuel tank. The bike is also fitted with rear-set foot-pegs. clip-on bars and a fly-screen with a Veglia tachometer. The wheels have Borrani rims. front forks are Cerriani and a competition exhaust is fitted. The bike is in sound condition and would make great competition bike for Hill Climbs or as a Show / Parade Bike. Please note this Classic Race Bike that requires a bump start As this is a 43 year old bike so sold as seen with no warranty implied or given.
