Description
An unrestored 1980 Orange & Silver Series I 180 Laverda Jota.
Matching frame and engine nos. (6833). 2 owners since 1998 -owned by me since 2004.
Sensible period mods: Tomaselli throttle; Tarozzi fork-brace; Boyer ignition; Renthal grips; braided brake-lines. Matched Pirelli tyres. Koni shocks are fitted -original Marzocchi units available for rebuild if required. The rev counter does not function. Note right-foot gear change.
Mileage believed to be genuine: MOT certificates available back to 1991. Last MOT 105 miles ago.
This bike has been on SORN since 2006. At that time it was running well. A new battery has been fitted. float bowls drained and cleaned. The engine runs but does not tickover. Believe carbs need to be stripped. cleaned. rebuilt and set-up. Good spark on all cylinders. No nasty mechanical noises.
If you're still reading this then you probable know the rest: This is a wonderful bike. It is every bit as good as the newspaper. magazine and on-line articles say. You will never tire of looking at it: It is a thing of beauty and a joy to behold. Just the sound of the engine and exhaust make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I wouldn't be selling this bike if I didn't need to.
A certain ammount of mechanical empathy. regular oil changes (every 1000 miles) and a healthy bank balance will help keep this bike in good condition. With the right care. this bike should be good for another 33 years or more.
