Description
For sale my recently restored 750 Commando 'Combat' Interstate.
The bike is currently on the road and used when time allows. but I have another stalled project which means I can no longer afford to keep it.
It requires nothing other than to be ridden and enjoyed.
Engine:
Combat spec: 'C' stamped cylinder head. 2S cam. 32mm Concentrics. Pazon Surefire ignition. Cases modified for correct oil scavenging. breather relocated to timing case. PCV fitted behind oil tank. The engine is oil tight.
Pushrod lengths reduced to restore correct valve-train geometry. New 'Superblend' Main bearings. Cylinders re-sleeved to standard. new JCC pistons & Hastings rings. Crank re-built with new A-N studs & nuts. re-ground to -0. 010". new big-end shells bolts & nuts.
New valves & cast iron guides fitted with Teflon seals. American race valve springs & Titanium collars.
Exhaust ports restored to better than new with bronze threaded inserts. exhaust retaining nuts in bronze: The best solution for long-term reliability.
Note- the crank cases are age-correct replacements for the originals.
Gearbox rebuilt with new seals. including X-ring outer cover seals.
Layshaft bearing replaced with Hemmings FAG high capacity ball-race. 21T gearbox sprocket (19T originally fitted).
Later box-section head steady and MkIII type vernier Isolastics fitted with new PTFE washers & new rubbers throughout.
Frame & sundries etch-primed and painted with 2-pack enamel. Wheels re-built with stainless rims & spokes. new K81 TT100s fitted (3. 60x19 front. 4. 10x19 rear). New Speedometer drive.
Forks rebuilt with new A-N components (stanchions. bushes. seals etc. ). Front brake master cylinder re-sleeved with RGM conversion. Stainless braided hose. Ferodo pads. Caliper re-built with stainless pistons.
The braking is excellent - totally compatible with modern road traffic conditions
New steering head bearings. swinging-arm bushes & spindle. new rear brake shoes (Ferodo). new Regina chain. New rear shock absorbers.
All chrome-plated items re-chromed or replaced with new. including fuel filler cap.
All fasteners. spindles etc. in stainless steel. including rocker spindle end-plates. pillion footrest assemblies. coil brackets & handlebars.
New wiring harnesses. switches. headlight (Wipac). Boyer Powerbox fitted on dedicated heat-sink. New Bosch battery. all new cables. stand springs.
Original tank resprayed with stencilled and painted graphics and pinstriping under lacquer. and lined with epoxy sealer from Tank Care Products. Expensive. but the best!
Note: The side-panel 'Combat' graphics are vinyl and can be removed.
I built this bike with the intention of creating a 'factory fresh' bike. but with all the latest reliability and durability enhancements.
I built it to keep. but sadly I can't! I need to sell it to finance the next project.
Although it is still running in. it has been 100% reliable. and a first-kick starter every time.
It has a current MoT and tax (Historic class)
