Description
Velocette Venom 500cc Clubman rep selling
Here is a typical old school Velocette Venom Clubman rep. built to ride & enjoy rather than to win concours competitions.
It is a good starter. fitted with a distributor & coil ignition. The electrics have been up-graded to 12volt using a Dave Lindsley JG regulator. It charges well.
The engine sounds very good both mechanically and on that famous Venom exhaust note. It is great to ride with comfortable riding position and smooth power delivery through the gears. A close ration “R” suffix gearbox is fitted.
Brakes are good and handling is great. Gearbox & clutch are spot on.
Smith's 120mph speedometer is working well. This bike has been built to use rather than show. It would benefit from a bit of tidying here and there but it's nice to find a Venom that hasn't been restored to a point where it's a bit too good to actually use!
The bike comes with a V5C registration certificate. Registration number YFF 510 cannot be transferred to another vehicle. Date of registration 30. 07. 54 Frame number RS5139. engine number VR2678. gearbox number 12-7223R.
The bike is pre-60 MOT exempt and is registered as Historic Class (free road tax).
Cosmetically the bike is generally not bad. It could be cleaned & polished up to a very respectable standard although it is a used old bike not a show piece.
The paint on the frame is generally sound. dull. old enamel but on the swinging arm for some reason the paint has started to flake off quite badly and these will need addressing before it rusts!
The clubman tank is a genuine alloy item in excellent condition with a nice paint job.
Other odd ares like the fork legs are very thin on enamel. Also the fork gaiters need replacement. The engine is all alloy and has no fin damage.
The seat is decent but a bit scruffy around the edges. The exhaust & silencer are really very good. Chrome headlamp is also very good.
Wheel rims are flanged Akront alloys with stainless steel spokes front & rear.
The rear tyre a newish looking Dunlop TT100. the front is an unworn but old looking Dunlop K81.
So. a rare chance to obtain a useable Velocette with great potential to either enjoy as-is or to improve over time or possibly to go to out & out Thruxton rep spec.
Don't miss this good running complete Clubman rep.
