Description
My late father's 1956 Velocette Venom.
This bike was his weapon of choice for club runs so has been well looked after.
It's in decent original condition and was in his ownership more than thirty years. It was mothballed two years ago when he stopped riding. The tank was drained and petrol pipes removed. It will need re-commissioning. I currently can't find the pipes but I suspect they would need replacing anyway.
Generally tidy and I only gave it a quick wash after coming out of storage. It should look a lot better after some wax and chrome polish.
The bike is fitted with an Alton electric start kit and Alton alternator. Along with this it has keyed ignition and discreet indicators. Parts to put back to original are included.
There's a fair few stainless parts and extras on the bike.
Nice period options are the Amal TT carb (it's properly set up and will tick over ok), rev counter, John Tickle front brake and Seymour oil tank.
This is a bike that has been in the hands of enthusiasts all of its life and goes well.
As above, the bike will need recommissioning. It was used regularly up until being mothballed. I personally rode it just before it was last used and it was going as good as ever. It turns over fine and gears engage. The forks are locked but they had new bushes shortly before last use so are bedding in anyway and should free up at the first pot hole.
