1973 Norton Commando

NORTON COMMANDO 750 ROADSTER 1973
This bike was originally a Police Interpol but it was civilianised by the last owner some time ago.
The wheels were rebuilt. including rims. stainless steel spokes and polished hubs.
Until I acquired the bike 1 year ago it had been stood in a dry garage since 1990.
The bike was a non runner when I acquired it. All I've done to get it on the road is give it a light clean. a battery. freed off the clutch. put new oil in it and fitted a new filter. It sailed through the MOT which runs until Aug. I've fitted new bars. an ignition switch and overhauled the front brake including seals. stainless pistons and blanking plug.
The engine and frame numbers match.
The engine runs well and strong on a run but runs unevenly on low revs. it may need a new carb or just some tinkering. The engine is oil tight but the gearbox weeps slightly when it's been stood a while.
The bike is not pristine but is a mechanically sound example. The overall bike has a used patina which I like. You could use it as it is or chose to restore it to a higher standard. Most of the chrome work is respectable apart from kick start and gear lever (see photos). The photos also show a mark on the seat.
