Ok guys here is a rare bird... This is one of my personal bikes... My history with this bike Goes way back as I purchased it from a good friend that I used to ride with frequently. I have had it for a while and I will Give full history as far back as I can. I got this from a friend (Tony), who bought it at the Hebron amca meet in the early 1990's It was for sale in Charlie Smith's spot and I was with Tony when he got it... It was built by a guy named Lee in Maine (that's all I know) and Tony ran it for years the way you see it...
He had Bob Mcqueen redoe the engine in 2002 and it has been in this configuration since I acquired it a couple of years back... I am the local AMCA chapter president here on Long Island and I've been an AMCA member since the mid 1980's. I am a Senior judge and started judging with Doc Patt in the 1980's and have judged hundreds of Harleys over the last 35 plus years. I will break this bike down as I would a judging sheet... There are a lot of Knuckleheads that come and they are listed as all original and restored, etc... Very few are correct and the ones that are go for crazy dough... This is a real nice period piece and it runs and rides nice. Here is the breakdown // I am including extra parts with the bike that will enhance the purchase and if you pay attention to the description you will see that a judgeable 1947 knucklehead is well within reach here... I would just leave it be as cool old school, bets your friends will drool ...
FRAME-ORIGINAL PAINT EARLY 1946 30 DEGREE UNTOUCHED WITH ALL CORRECT CASTING NUMBERS (SEE PALMERs BOOK: NO TAB FOR THE ADVANCE CABLE). if you want to know what the casting #'s are I have them all written down...
FRONT END IS 1946 INLINE ALL OEM FRONT LEG IS TC20TF #15... I HAVE A REAR 47 OFFSET LEG TOP PERCH ONLY IF YOU WANT IT I WILL INCLUDE IT(SEND TO BLACK CAT CYCLE AND THEY CAN SEND YOU BACK A CORRECT STOCK OEM ONE). NO REPRO PARTS ON FRONT END... OEM RIDE CONTROL, OEM STEERING DAMPNER, EARLY 36-46 HEADLIGHT BRACKET. THIS FORK WAS USED SO AS TO ACCOMODATE THE SUPER RARE OEM TALL MAN CONVERSION KIT, SEE BELOW... With the 18 inch wheels and the dampner and ride control, this bike runs fine even though its a 30 degree frame with an inline fork. No high speed shake, etc.
HANDLEBARS AND ALL RELATED IS OEM HARLEY... TALL MAN CONVERSION KIT PART# IS 56142-49 ALL FACTORY CORRECT WITH ORIGINAL LONG RISER LINK, CASTING NUMBERS ON RISERS, ETC., REAL FLANDERS #11 HANDLEBARS AND CHICAGO GRIPS, SUPER RARE STUFF ... BIKE WENT OVER IN 2001 AND BENT THE RIGHT BAR DOWN, IT WAS REPAIRED WITH A TORCH AND ITS STRAIGHT NOW AND WORKS FINE BUT THE CHROME IS DISCOLORED THUS THE TAPE.
MOTOR OEM 1947 KNUCKLEHEAD REAL DEAL... MATCHING BELLY NUMBERS, 47-12987 AND MINTY FACTORY VIN 47EL12179... ALL HEADS AND ROCKER BOXES CORRECT DATE CODES... HEADS WERE O-RINGED... THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT IN 2002 BY RENOWNED EAST COAST KNUCKLE MOTOR BUILDER BOB MCQUEEN... HE PUNCHED IT UP TO 76 CUBIC INCHES USING JOHN HARMON CYLINDERS (RARE), AND 74 FLYWHEELS, I HAVE EL CYLINDERS IF YOU WANT TO BUY THEM YOU CAN CONVERT BACK TO 61 INCH. BUT IT RUNS NICE THEE WAY IT IS. ALL OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE MOTOR ARE STOCK EXCEPT THE SKULL CENTER PIECES ON THE PUSHROD COVERS (THEY AIN'T BROKE SO I LEFT THEM).
TRANSMISSION CASE AND LID ARE 41 KNUCKLEHEAD, KICKER ARM IS CORRECT 1 PIECE, KICKER COVER IS PIG SNOUT -52)... TRANS IS ALL REBUILT AND WORKS FINE... KICKER PEDAL IS RED CHICAGO M/C SUPPLYFRONT AND REAR FENDER ARE EARLY V-TWIN BOBBER JOBS AND THEY LOOK KINDA COOL. I AM INCLUDING A SET OF ORIGINAL 1947 FRONT AND REAR WIDE BRACE REAL DEAL FENDERS, THE REAR EVEN HAS ORIGINAL GLACIER BLUE PAINT ON THE INSIDE...
GAS TANKS ARE 1948-1950 PANHEAD (RIGHT TANK HAS CROSSOVER SPIGOT FURTHER OUT THAN 47 KNUCKLE), BUT ONLY A FEW KNOW THIS, LEFT TANK HAS A DENT IN THE REAR ON THE TOP (SEE IT IN THE PICS), EMBLEMS OEM FOX CO., CAPS ORIGINAL STRECK, SHUTOFF AND LINES CORRECT OEM. DASH COMPLETE CORRECT OEM BASE, OEM COVER, GLASS LENS (GEN/OIL), CORRECT 1947 ONLY SPEEDO AND OEM SPEEDOMETER CABLE, OEM IGNITION SWITCH WITH 2 BRIGGS AND STRATTON KEYS... ALL THIS FITS AND WORKS MINT.
