Description
1950 Royal Enfield 'Flying Flea'.
Here we have my little post-war 'Flying Flea'. I bought it a couple of years ago and planned to put it back on the road. I didn't want to restore it, just get it going, and retain the 'patina'. However, what with one thing and another, I've never got around to it and now I have other distractions to occupy me, so the Flea needs to move on.
Please read this description carefully and have a good look at the pictures.
When I bought it the engine ran briefly and I was quite positive. Then I started work on it. The clutch was replaced as were the points and condensor. New tyres and chain were also fitted. It then got left at the back of the workshop for a year or more while I played with other toys. Now, having got it out again, I find it has no spark. Not sure why. I'm guessing it would be an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing but as I say I don't have time to look at it. The engine turns over freely.
As you will see from the photos the blue paintwork is faded, scratched and worn. There is lots of surface rust but it is just surface. Underneath this 'patina' the bike is solid. It would be a shame to restore it in my opinion. I think these days people like to see bikes showing their age. (The numbers/letters on the number plates had faded so I sympathetically repainted them.) The mileometer shows 3611. I have no idea whether this is correct.
There is no V5. The only paperwork I have is a document from the Norfolk County Record Office proving the reg. no, engine no. and frame no. are all original. This should be enough for the new owner to get the bike registered with the DVLA and retain the original reg no.
The bike is located in Oxfordshire and if you want to view it you're welcome to do so. Just send me a message.
The buyer will need to collect the bike. I am unable to deliver it. I'd like cash on collection please. The bike is being sold as seen and no warranty is offered.
Any questions? Message me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
